Kaplan Medical USMLE Master the Boards Step 3 (Kaplan USMLE)
by Conrad Fischer, Sonia Reichert
Amazon Price: $29.67
Customer Review: As much as I hate Kaplan (the McDonald's of exams and USMLE with no hesitation to milk profit from poor students), this book is probably the best of the 3 books, which are:

1- This one
2- Crush by Brochert
3- First Aid

I personally like this the best and is the most complete and exam-oriented book. Heavy emphasis is placed throughout on what to do in the CCS scenarios and are, in my opinion, even better than the stand-alone section in FA, which is fairly wor...

BRS Gross Anatomy (Board Review Series)
by Harold M Chung
Amazon Price: $35.60
Customer Review: There are two things I liked this book for. First, I thought they did a great job of compartmentalizing muscles in the UL & LL, making it easier to learn origins, insertions, action, innervation...although adding artery supply to the table would be helpful (it is included in the text at least). For new med students, I feel you should know that memorizing these charts will pretty much guarantee you passing, & probably getting an A, on the UL & LL written exams. Secondly, I thought there were s...

Boards and Wards (Boards and Wards Series)
by Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg
Amazon Price: $40.05
Customer Review: I bought this for preparation to USMLE step 2.
It's funny, the book had 17 positive ratings before it was printed or available for shipping and I didn't realize it's a trap. First Aid has ranked it as a good comprehensive so I blindly pre-ordered it.

CONs:
- It has so many spelling errors.
- Not detailed at all. For USMLE you need to know the 1st-line, 2nd-line... diagnostic tools and treatment options (e.g. Dx: X-ray,Ultrasound, MRI, CT. So wat the hell! which on...

BRS Pathology (Board Review Series)
by Arthur S Schneider, Philip A Szanto
Amazon Price: $35.60
Customer Review: Nobody is arguing about which book is more complete between Rapid review and BRS Path. Obviously Rapid review is the more complete book which also has the benefit of integration. But Rapid review and BRS are different weapons for different situations. If you have 5-6 days to study Pathology (especially if its just Pathology shelf NBME) then BRS is then gun you use because that many days is not enough for Rapid review unless you have already been through it a couple times. If you have 1.5-2+ week...

Katzung & Trevor's Pharmacology Examination and Board Review, Ninth Edition (...
by Anthony Trevor, Bertram Katzung, Susan Masters
Amazon Price: $44.95
Customer Review: I just received this book a few days ago and have read the first few chapters. My impression is that this is a great mix of board review with actual pharmacology. Don't expect in-depth cell-signaling though. This isn't the point of this book. It's a pharm book for med students looking to prep for the boards.

The pictures are in color and very pretty. LOTS of multiple choice questions at the end of each chapters. Probably a worthwhile investment for most medical students who want a d...

BRS Physiology (Board Review Series)
by Linda S Costanzo
Amazon Price: $31.56
Customer Review: This is a good review book. But you would need a reference book also since BRS Physiology is very compact.

BRS Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Genetics, Fifth Edition (Board Revie...
by Todd A Swanson, Sandra I Kim, Marc J Glucksman
Amazon Price: $38.27
Customer Review: For a "Board Review" book, you need something that is accurate and condensed. This is not accurate, and while the book is short I wouldn't call it condensed - it's just short. Looks like plenty of other reviewers have already mentioned the errors, so I won't go into detail on that. However, when I compare this against Lippincott's Biochemistry review, this book doesn't even register on the scale. Where Lippincott's book is condensed, but still has enough information to refresh and re-teach i...

Mosby's Review for the NBDE, Part II (Mosby's Review for the Nbde: Part 2 (Na...
by Mosby
Amazon Price: $57.55
Customer Review: I am using this to study for part II, it was a good review. Though it may lack in some areas, it is great in others. The oral diagnosis section is not that great. Endo, operative, perio, ortho, pedo, and practice managements are strong areas, but for other sections you may want to use other supplemental study aids, like Dental decks!

BRS Behavioral Science (Board Review Series)
by Barbara Fadem
Amazon Price: $35.60
Customer Review: This is really the book of all behavioral science books. The questions inside are kind of on the lame side, as are most BRS series questions since they don't really look like the USMLE format. But, the content is brilliant, concise and understandable, even if you didn't understand all the biostats the first time you were taught it. You can go through all of this material in about a day during board review and pick up easy points on the test.

BRS Cell Biology and Histology (Board Review Series)
by Leslie P Gartner, James L Hiatt, Judy M Strum
Amazon Price: $35.60
Customer Review: Just excellent!!! At med school you have very little time to assimilate your readings...This book helps a lot in summarizing lectures and Histology textbooks!!!!
